Georgia was also awarded a scholarship, funded through the CIVIS fund and provided to outstanding graduate students, for attending the international CIVIS program. Congratulations!
The Institut Cancer et Immunologie (ICI, Aix-Marseille University) was offering Master and PhD students the opportunity to follow a mixed international mobility program on the theme “Technical innovations in basic and translational research: Applications to immunology-oncology” within the universities of the CIVIS alliance. A virtual mobility in the form of e-learning (webinars and videos) and a physical mobility in high-tech scientific platforms, allowed students to discover or deepen their skills in Immuno-Oncology.

Translations (from French):
Success for the Summer School of the Institut Cancer et Oncologie (ICI).
From July 5 to 9, the 1st Summer School of the ICI Institute, a CIVIS award-winning project, brought together nearly 50 international master and thesis students in France, and as many participants connected remotely. A panel of 26 internationally renowned speakers presented the latest advances in "Unicellular approaches in the heterogeneity of tumors and immune cells". A very rich program articulated around different modules: the evolution of cancer in space and time, the latest single-cell technologies and techniques for analyzing the immune system, its medical applications for the diagnosis and new treatments of cancer by immunotherapy. Practical workshops, poster sessions, round tables and exchanges completed the program. Rendez-vous in 2022 at the University of Bucharest for edition #2!
Georgia Antonopoulou, Master’s student at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
« This summer school was a unique opportunity for young scientists to get their career off to a flying start, with a focus on innovative approaches in immuno-oncology. I particularly appreciated the varied topics addressed by the researchers in their lectures, which covered not only academia but also the industrial context. Finally, the week offered great opportunities for networking and allowed me to imagine undertaking a research post in another European country. »
